Video Tape Transfers

At Orinda Prints & Archiving, we are passionate about digitizing your vintage family memories. We use the best equipment and the latest software to streamline our production flow in order to provide you with the highest quality and fast service.

This ensures their longevity, enhances their accessibility, and preserves your family’s precious memories for future generations.

$30.00 per Tape

We do most video transfer services in-house. Most orders are processed within a week. Rush services are available.
DVD's are an extra charge and only hold 2 hours.

Formats Accepted:

VHS

VHS cassettes are 7.4 inches by 4 inches and 1 inch thick with half inch wide tape inside.

Compact VHS

VHS-C cassettes are 3.6 inches by 2.0 inches and 0.8 inches thick with the standard VHS half inch wide tape inside.

Hi-8 & Digital 8

Compact video cassets are 3.6875 inches by 2.375 inches and 0.6 inches thick.

Mini DV

Using digital data, these Mini DV's are 2.6 inches by 1.92 inches 0.48 inches thick.

Tape to MP4/MOV File:

The most popular option these days is to convert your VHS, Hi8, DVcam, MiniDV to playable and editable digital format. We can give you a download link to your file which can be forwarded to others to download as well. Our default is the standard MP4. If you have a Mac and want to edit the video then an MOV file may be requested.

Tape to DVD:

This was the most popular transfer until last year. Most people are moving away from Discs as player are going out of style. We can still make you a playable DVD from your VHS, Hi8, DVcam, MiniDV tapes. DVD's have a limit of 2 hours. Keep in mind that VHS tapes had different speed setting where you can record up to 8 hours of footage. That's less common from camcorders than it is from VCR TV recordings. Call for a quote or bring us what you got.

Duplication and Conversion:

Orinda Prints & Archiving can duplicate any type of CD and most DVD's. We can also extract media from Floppy Disks, Digital Camera Media cards, CD, DVD, Phones, Micro SD, and USBs. If need by we can also convert the media format to something more current. We can also edit (crop out) parts for an additional fee.

Slide Shows:

We can create you a slideshow using your digital images. We also have the ability to scan photos, slides, and negatives. We can also add music to the slide shows. Each slideshow is different. We will work with you in creating a title page, go over the order of the images, and offer you a preview before the final is made to MP4 files (DVD's can be requested).

Video Editing:

Orinda Prints & Archiving doesn't offer this service, but if it's something simple like cropping out a part of video we can do that.
